Making All Black Lives Matter

Within the United States, we see on nearly a daily basis, the amount of hatred towards blacks throughout the media. These incidents for the most part involve police officers and black teenage men. When I was younger I didn't watch the news very often, but I can still remember when the case involving Trayvon Martin was all over the news. Even at a young age I still remember sitting at the kitchen countertop watching the news and it was covering the Trayvon Martin situation. I can vividly remember sitting there thinking this is absolutely insane. An innocent kid went to the convenience store to grab a snack and a soda and he never made it back home. After he left the convenience store he was immediately targeted by an extremely racist cop resulting in the death of Trayvon Martin. I was sitting there thinking how could this possibly happen and who in the right mind would be able to do this to an innocent young man. I was hoping that more and more people would take notice of the situation. Well, luckily many people did take notice of this insane situation and this triggered protests. Many ordinary people spoke out about the situation and also many celebrities spoke out. These celebrities include Jay-Z, Beyonce, President Obama, and many more. President Obama even mentioned that "if he had a son he would've likely resembled Trayvon" (pg 30). I believe this situation really impacted President Obama considering that if he had a son it would've been possible that his son could've faced a similar situation considering he would've been black. It is crazy for me to think that someone of my same age has the chance to be in that same situation on a daily basis simply because they are black. If I were black I would almost have to have some type of fear every time I step out in public because you really don't know what is going to happen. I have sympathy for Trayvon Martin and his family along with every other innocent black out there that has faced a situation like this. There needs to be some type of chance to help eliminate situations like this.
